Individuals who love to interact with children will enjoy the rewarding opportunity of serving as a volunteer docent. Butterfly House docents provide structured presentations to students, helping them learn about butterflies, invertebrates and their environments. Formal training is provided. The commitment is two and one-half hours, one day per week, primarily in September, October, March, April and May.

Extroverted individuals are sought to become Butterfly House ambassadors as guest services volunteers. This position includes conversing with guests at the front desk as you accept their tickets; preparing guests to enter the Tropical Conservatory; and enhancing the visitor experience with information about the attraction’s thousands of butterflies, the movie playing in the theater, the plants in the native butterfly garden and the insects and arachnids in the Exhibit Hall. The desired commitment is two four-hour shifts per month. Available shifts are from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Starting May 28, volunteers are particularly needed on Mondays; Wednesday evening shifts also become available. Volunteers receive training on all aspects of this position, in particular the quarantine protocols that the Butterfly House is required to follow in the Tropical Conservatory.

Surround yourself with exquisite butterfly-themed merchandise as a Madame Butterfly Gift Shop volunteer. Help stock and rotate unique inventory and assist guests with their purchases. The minimum age requirement for this position is 16 years old. Volunteers receive training on all aspects of this position. Shifts are available on Saturday afternoons and also on Monday mornings from May 28 through September 3.
