Dramatic License Productions Presents Comedy Moonlight and Magnolias Oct. 25-Nov. 11

DRAMATIC LICENSE PRODUCTIONS PRESENTS RON HUTCHINSON’S HILARIOUS TRIBUTE TO GONE WITH THE WIND, MOONLIGHT & MAGNOLIAS, OCT. 25-NOV. 11

For Immediate Release:

(CHESTERFIELD, Mo.) Oct. 16, 2012 – Dramatic License Productions (DLP), presenting professional theatre and cabaret in Chesterfield Mall, presents a look at 1930’s Hollywood in its hey-day with Ron Hutchinson’s comedy, Moonlight and Magnolias Oct. 25-Nov. 11 (Thurs.-Sat. 8 p.m., Sun. 2 p.m.) Directed by Jason Cannon, the hilarious tribute to the making of Gone with the Wind is performed at the 85-seat black box space, Dramatic License Theatre in Chesterfield Mall.

Set in 1939, in the Hollywood studio office of 35 year-old wunderkind David O. Selznick, Moonlight and Magnolias is the “mostly true” story of the five (plus) days that Selznick upheaves the film production of Gone with the Wind to rewrite the screenplay. He plucks famed director Victor Fleming off the set of The Wizard of Oz and enlists the talents of writer and active Zionist, Ben Hecht for a week-long rewrite session. Audiences will howl with laughter at how Margaret Mitchell’s best-selling novel finally made it to the Silver Screen.

The Dramatic License cast features an experienced group of St. Louis actors including Kent Coffel as Victor Fleming, David Cooperstein as Selznick, Maggie Murphy as secretary Miss Poppenguhl, and Actor’s Equity Association member and veteran actor/singer/impressionist, Dean Christopher as the dry-witted writer, Ben Hecht.

Dramatic License Productions will feature a theatre lobby full of Gone with the Wind memorabilia provided by local enthusiasts and movie trivia for audiences to view prior to the production. The box office opens 1.5 hours before show time.

Performances are Oct. 25 (Thur.-Sat. 8 p.m., Sun. 2 p.m.) at Dramatic License Theatre, Chesterfield Mall. (Access the upper-level Sears wing mall entrance next to Houlihan’s Restaurant.)

Tickets for Moonlight and Magnolias are $25 for adults, $22 for students & seniors (60+) and $18 for active military, theatre industry personnel and groups (10+). Thurs. (Oct. 25) Preview ticket price is $18, all seats.
