Monarch Firefighters Donations Will Help Joplin Pets in Need
The following is a press release from the Monarch Fire Protection District firefighters.
Thanks to the generosity of West St. Louis County residents, animals who were rescued after the devastating tornado in Joplin, MO will have food and other goodies.
Karin Overy, wife of Monarch Fire Protection District Firefighter/Paramedic Chris Overy, helped organize several donation points for pets.
Jeanne Sullivan, owner of the Ballwin Pet Supplies Plus, and customers of the store donated items. The store raised about $1,000 in monetary donations for the American Red Cross and the Joplin Humane Society. One Lucky Mutt in Wildwood also donated three car-loads full of items, including food, crates, newspapers and pet beds.
Firefighters for the Monarch Fire Protection District collected multiple loads of pet food, toys and monetary donations that totaled approximately $900.
The donations will be taken to Joplin this weekend.
