Chesterfield Gallery Trends As Art Hub

Art Trends Gallery speaks to the tastes and wallets of Midwest.

Chesterfield's has emerged as a hub for artists and art loversβ€”as well as shoppers looking for original art that makes them smile.

Saint Louis Watercolor Society opened its second annual show at the Gallery this week and the watercolors will be on display and for sale through mid-December. The society has some 300 members but those whose work is displayed must have been in two previous juried shows.

"Watercolor is very different from every other medium," said Art Trends Gallery Manager Nancy Dorwart. "You have to see it up close and personal to really appreciate it."

A wine-and-cheese reception/opening for the watercolor show was busy Friday evening and buzzed with art talk.

A youthful artist, Tom Chlebowski, whose acrylic paintings are also carried by Art Trends Gallery studied the watercolors closely.

"I'm blown away by the technique. Watercolor is so hard to control," Chlebowski said.

Yet the results are so easy to enjoy.
