Chesterfield Pastor Gerald Nienhaus Dies

Rev. Nienhaus died at age 77. He served several congregations in the St. Louis area, including Incarnate Word in Chesterfield.

 

Rev. Gerald T. Nienhaus, a retired Catholic Priest who served the Incarnate Word Congregation in Chesterfield, died Friday, Aug. 17, at age 77.

Nienhaus died of a brief illness at his home in St. Sophia Health and Rehabilitation Center in Florissant, according to a St. Louis Post-Dispatch obituary.

Nienhaus was a teacher and pastor for many Catholic congregations, including Our Lady of Lourdes in University City, St. Rose Philippine Duchesne in Florissant, Our Lady of Presentation in Overland, St. James in St. Louis, North American Martyrs in Florissant, St. Joseph in Apple Creek, St. Aloysius in Spanish Lake, Visitation-Holy Ghost in St. Louis, and Incarnate Word in Chesterfield, according to the Post-Dispatch.

Nienhaus is survived by four brothers and two sisters.

A visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20,  at Ascension Catholic Church in Chesterfield. A funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery, according to the Post-Dispatch.
