Update: Memorial Published for Christopher Simpson

A funeral Mass for the Chesterfield Police Department Detective and 25-year law enforcement veteran who died Tuesday will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Church in St. Ann.

Christopher C. Simpson, died on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at the age of 56.

He was the husband of Karen M. Simpson (nee Arnold); dear son of the late Joseph and Jeanne Simpson; dear brother of Jeanne (Bill) Roberts; Mary Beth Walton, Patty (David) Piant and Joe (the late Tina) Simpson; our dear nephew, uncle, cousin and friend to many.

He was a 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus, member of Chesterfield Police Officer's Association and Missouri FOP Lodge 15.

Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Friday at Collier's Funeral Home, 3400 N. Lindbergh Blvd. in Saint Ann. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church located at 3500 St. Luke Lane in St. Ann with interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flower, memorials are asked to made to the Backstoppers

Original story: The Chesterfield Police Department Wednesday morning announced the death of one of their own.

Detective Christopher Simpson, who was with the department for 25 years after serving in law enforcement agencies in Maplewood and Berkley, died Tuesday after becoming unconscious and unresponsive at the department's fitness center Tuesday evening. 

A Chesterfield Police spokesman could not release further details when contacted Wednesday morning. Funeral arrangements have not been finalized.
