Chesterfield Police accident reconstruction officers are working to determine what happened this morning in the intersection of Clayton Road and Claymoor Road, where three vehicles were involved in a crash that closed traffic for more than three hours.

Traffic was opened a little before 3 p.m. and most of the debris has been removed from the scene.

The vehicles crashed nearby Parkway West High School at around 10 a.m.. Four people were injured and taken to area hospitals with one of the victims reportedly having severe head injuries, said Chesterfield Police Capt. Steven Lewis.

None of the the victims' injuries appeared to be life threatening, Lewis said.

Chesterfield Police Officer Michael Ryffel said it could take two to three weeks for accident reconstruction officers to determine the causes of the accident.

He said Chesterfield also has a mandatory blood test policy when car accidents occur and they will await lab tests to determine if any of the drivers were intoxicated.

Although clear, there is some evidence of the crash in the roadway---sand, broken glass, skid marks.
