Counterfeit Bills Passed at Chesterfield Gas Station

Four $10 notes were used to purchase drinks and snacks on Feb. 9 at the Shell station on Clayton Road.

Police are investigating a case fraud after they say an unknown suspect passed counterfeit bills at a Chesterfield gas station last week.

The four $10 bills were used Feb. 9 at the Shell service station on Clayton Road, just east of Baxter Road. Their fraudulent nature was discovered by a manager the next day, who reported it to police.

Drinks and miscellaneous snacks were purchased with the fraudulent cash, according to police. It is unknown if the individual who used the bills knew if they were counterfeit or not.
