Did You Feel the Earthquake?

The majority polled here didn't feel Tuesday's, 4 a.m., shaker.

Chesterfield was shaken by a magnitude 2.0 earthquake early Tuesday morning that originated near Sikeston, in southeastern Missouri, according to the USGS.

Some of those who happened to be awake at 3:58 a.m. when it struck, said they felt a little something, but didn't think of earthquake.

It would be hard to believe that many in the Chesterfield area would have been awakened from sleep by a 2.0 magnitude with the epicenter near Sikeston.

This month marks the 200th anniversary of the New Madrid quake, that changed the course of the Mississippi River. It was a combination of three quakes from December through February, estimated to be in the 7.0 magnitude range.
