Friday Food Critic: Original Pancake House

Each week, we nominate a new restaurant for you to review. That's right, you're the local expert.

Chesterfield has some many great places to eat, that your local Patch editor sometimes has trouble deciding where to eat breakfast, lunch, or dine.

We have some great local places that many would consider community gems; we have some restaurants that aren't exactly mom-and-pop but are unique to the area; and we certainly—for better or for worse—have plenty of chains lining our main streets.

But what we don't have is a consistent food critic to tell us what's good and what's not.

That's where you come in.

We could throw some money at a professional food critic, but that's not exactly what Patch is all about. We'd much rather know the opinion of the fine folks that eat there day-in and day-out.

It's your community. You eat the food. You tell us if it passes the mark.

That's why we are introducing The Friday Food Critic column, where each week we will put a different restaurant on the chopping block. You tell us how you feel about it, what dishes are good, who has the best drink specials and so forth.

This week's restaurant is the Original Pancake House, a cozy restaurant with many traditional American food options. The restaurant, which dates back to 1953, is known for its belgian waffles, crepes, omelets and, of course, pancakes.

To review the Original Pancake House, simply click on their name (or THIS LINK). You'll be directed toward their community listing in our places directory, where you can rate them on a five-star system or write a personal review.

At Chesterfield Patch, we believe your words of wisdom are better than any food critic.

What are you waiting for? Let the reviewing begin!

TOPH is outstanding. Try the oven-baked dutch omelettes.

I've only been there once, and it was last year. A friend of mine who lives in St. Charles loves it and takes family there when they're in town. I had crepes with some sort of tart Swedish berry, that morning my friend insisted I meet here there. Delicious! It was a busy Saturday morning, but our waitress didn't rush us and was friendly and attentive. I came away feeling impressed and satisfied. A real treat. I've since moved into the city. But now that you bring up the place, I might grab a friend and go this weekend.
