One Injured After Striking Clayton Road Utility Pole Head-On

An accident on Clayton Road left one person injured and shut off power to area residents for nearly 12 hours.

Power is restored to West County residents Friday after a crash on Clayton Road Thursday night near the border of Town and Country and Chesterfield.

Town and Country police responded to the accident just west of Woods Mill Road around 7:30 p.m, but tell Patch the location of the crash, between Woods Mill Road and Village Green Parkway, is actually Chesterfield.

West County EMS and Fire Protection District emergency crews also responded.

According to West County Deputy Chief Jeff Sadtler, one car was involved in the accident in front of Target and hit a nearby utility pole head-on into. No word Friday on what caused the driver to leave the road and hit the pole.

Sadtler said one man suffered "moderate" injuries in the crash and was taken to the hospital.

Ameren crews were also called to the scene.

Ameren Missouri spokesperson Kent Martin tells Patch almost 250 nearby residents were without power from around 7:50 p.m. Thursday to approximately 7:30 a.m. Friday as crews worked to repair the damage from the accident.

According to witnesses at the scene, police and Ameren crews had a lane of westbound Clayton closed from about 7 p.m. Thursday until Friday morning.

"That probably has to do with the utility pole being hit," Sadtler tells Patch.

Oops, copy reader--spell check doesn't catch everything! "That probably has to do with the utility police being hit," Sadtler tells Patch.
