Starbucks Offers New $1 Reusable Tumbler, but Good Luck Finding One
Both Chesterfield Starbucks locations sold out of the $1 reusable plastic cups withing days. The cups are part of an initiative by the coffee giant to reduce its waste.
In an effort to lesson the load of trash from disposable cups, Starbucks is now offering a new reusable tumbler, but Chesterfield residents may have are hard time getting a hold of one.
The $1 plastic cups started appearing in St. Louis area stores in the past week and have sold like, well, hot-coffee-cakes.
The Starbucks on Clarkson Road in Chesterfield reported receiving a shipment of the cups last Thursday that were gone by Saturday. More won't be arriving until next Thursday, Jan. 17, at the earliest.
The situation was much the same at the store in Chesterfield Valley. That location also sold out of the popular tubmlers in a matter of days as well.
Prior to the reusable tumbler, Starbucks already offered a 10-cent discount to customers who brought in a reusable mug. The company's goal is reportedly to serve 5 percent of all drinks in reusable cups by 2015.
