Corner Lots Require Retaining Walls, Fences at Country Ridge

The neighborhoods along Baxter Road are strangely quiet now that MoDOT work has closed a section right smack in the middle of Baxter Road, between Clayton and Clarkson Roads.

Baxter Road closed Election Day, Tuesday June 5, for removal of a section of road over a creek at Isleview, to enclose the creek in a concrete culvert. And then rebuild the road over that.

Estimates are Baxter Road will be closed about four months at that juncture.

Country Ridge, a residential street that crosses Baxter at a traffic light, is now open after months of closure. The light is flashing red—stop, look and cross. Baxter Road is now blocked off at that intersection.

MoDOT lowered the road (took out a hill?) at Baxter and Country Ridge. Residential property on the four corners there now overlook the intersection from behind retaining walls topped with black fencing. 

One corner house has a swimming pool in the backyard along Baxter Road, propped up by the retaining wall. Another corner house has a new look in front—rather like a city row house, with steps, walls, fencing and rails from the sidewalk on Country Ridge up to the front door, and around the corner.

The remaining corner is a small park that is common ground of Meadowbrook Farm/Clarkson Estates, according to resident Don Baird, which now overlooks the intersection

A curve may also be taken out of Baxter between Country Ridge and Isle View, by the looks of the existing grading.
