Avoid the Halloween Candy Pile Up!

Halloween is fundamentally centered on chocolate candies, taffy apples, and a variety of other sweet and sugary concoctions. Sometimes these sweet treats accumulate in your household and by the time Halloween is over you have more candy than you started with! Having so many sweets in the house can be very tempting for you to eat them just to get rid of them, but there are better ways to minimize the pile up.

First, buy candy that you are going to give away only a few days before Halloween. Limiting the temptation time can really help to minimize eating too much. Also, avoid buying candy that you know you like. For example, if you know you will eat those Reese’s peanut butter cups if they are around then buy Starburst candies instead. Another tip for leftover Halloween candy can be to save it for Christmas and use it to make an advent calendar for your kids so they still get to eat the candy, but it’s portioned out!
