Summer Skin Care

Just as a leaf withers under summer's changing sun, our skin can loose moisture and "wither" as well. Summer sun, hot winds and chlorine exposure can pull the moisture out of our protective layer leaving wrinkles, dry patches and itchy rashes.

Skin protection begins with moisture retention and must be maintained through out sunbathes, swimming sessions and outdoor activities. A quality rehydrating lotion or cream is an essential place to start: a water or light natural oil based product will absorb quickly and not feel greasy on hot days. Apply after showers, to still damp skin if possibble. Always rinse chlorine off after swimming. Use mild soaps-it does not take a detergent to wash off sweat or a little bit of the outside.

And perhaps most importantly, if you must or prefer to be in the sun...sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen! Not only will it protect from cancer causing rays, it offers protection from the day, aging effects of the sun. A 30 SPF or greater is preferable. Many are now "waterproof" for swimming or athletic activites. Do check directions for reapplication guidelines.

Have a great wrinkle free, hydrated summer!!
