It looks like the prices at Walmart just aren’t cheap enough for some people. Shoplifters hit Walmart on THF Boulevard on five different occasions between June 26 and July 7. None of these criminals were teens on a lark, but people ranging in age from 23 to 48 years old. One woman took jewelry, another lifted electronics and two other women took what police described as “undisclosed merchandise under $500.” The lone male crook in this spree was fairly bold. The recent heat wave must have driven local misfits to strike where it’s cool—the backyard swimming pool. A crime report from the Chesterfield Police listed a half dozen crimes in or around private pools. Three homes within a mile of each other all reported overnight vandalism on the night of June 28. The homes, located on the block of 1100 Nooning Tree Drive, the block of 14000 Grantley Drive and the block of 400 Argus Manor Court all had patio furniture and decorations tossed into their backyard pools by persons unknown. Police reported a car theft and multiple car break-ins at two apartment complexes in Chesterfield over the latest July Fourth weekend, for a total of 15 in one night. The majority were reported taking place on a Saturday night July 7, at apartments along Schoettler Valley Road, just off Chesterfield Parkway at Highway 40/64. Twelve crimes were reported at this one complex alone, including a stolen car. Victims' cars were parked outside. Padlocks broken a second time on an electronic road sign at Clarkson and Kehr's Mill roads was likely a try at manipulating the sign's message, but vandals were stymied in the attempt this time. Since the previous incident in which vandals changed the sign to read "Nazi Zombies! Run!!!" Chesterfield Police said Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) officials have blocked on-site access to the computer in the sign. Instead, MoDOT now controls the sign messages remotely, police said. However, someone did cut the padlocks off the sign for a second time, between June 18-22, police said. …

A number of middle-aged women were cited this week in Chesterfield for DWI—driving while intoxicated, and alcohol-related incidents. Police said: DWI A 43-year-old woman in a car crash was arrested for DWI and assault on a police officer, in the 1800 block Schloettler Valley Drive, May 11, 10:40 p.m. Police said when they tried to administer a Standardized Field Sobriety test, the woman tried to shove the officer away. At 9:30 on a Sunday morning, 44-year-old Jerry Brooks threatened a neighbor, a 34-year-old woman, in the 1100 block of Woodchase Lane, in a series of ongoing incidents between the two. Police said: It's Assault A 76-year-old man threatened his wife from 6am until noon, in order to get his name put in her trust. It was in the 14000 block Coeur Dalene Court, April 21. A 14-year-old girl and 52-year-old woman were pushing each other around in a family argument—no one injured. It was about 3pm, in the 1900 block Squires Way, April 20. At eight in the morning, a 30-year-old man threatened his girlfriend with a gun. When she broke a window for some reason, he pulled her arm through it and she was "moderately" cut, police said. April 18: At about 6:45pm at I-64 West and Clarkson Road, a 16-year-old boy kicked and damaged the victim's vehicle as part of a road rage incident. Between 9:15pm and 7:05am the next day, someone stole a car from the apartment parking lot in the 14000 block Bantry Lane 8. The car was parked in front of the owner's apartment. April 20 Between 6pm and 9:30am the next day someone got into an unlocked car in the 16000 block Clarkson Woods Dr, and stole an iPod. A 58-year-old man whacked a victim with a golf club and broke out a window on a victim's car, Chesterfield police reported this week. The victim had minor injuries. The golf club swinger was booked, and released on $750 bond, police said. A dispute apparently arose over the treatment of a family member, according to police. The incident happened in the 15000 block of Summer Ridge Drive at about 5:15 p.m., on April 18. Police described the incident as an "Assault common—actual assault." Assualt: Police said a 19-year-old man ended up with a head injury and was taken to an area hospital for treatment when he tried to hit a police officer while he was being booked for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) at 3:25am on March 29, in the 600 block of Chesterfield Parkway.
