It's the quick fix.Chesterfield's Monarch Fire Protection District donated $981 to charity toward fighting breast cancer after a month of fundraising, at its last public meeting. Firefighters had been wearing pink T-shirts around Firehouse No. 1 during the month of October, in support of "Pink Heals" campaign. See T-shirt design with accompanying photo. President Kim Evans, of the Monarch FPD, said firefighters had been collecting from the public for the donation. The check for $981 was handed over to charity by Bob Wilhelm.

Air National Guard fighters were said to be flying overhead Friday in Chesterfield, at least three times between 7 a.m. and noon. The jet engine sounds were extremely loud—and unusual—for Chesterfield residents in the path of aircraft apparently running between Lambert-St. Louis International Airport and Chesterfield's airports. Local first responders identified the aircraft as fighters making a run to refuel at Chesterfield's Spirit of St. Louis Airport. Flushing the toilet is going up in price. With sewer bills to climb 64 percent by 2016 for Chesterfield residents, the commission that sets the fees is coming to Chesterfield City Hall Thursday, 6 p.m., to listen to residents. The proposed hike is in part a result of a court-imposed consent decree between our Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. There are some 400 sites throughout the district where sewage may mix with clean water in the event of overload. The district proposes nearly $1 billion to fix this.
