Guess Who's Making a Brief Stop in Chesterfield THIS SATURDAY?

Chesterfield Arts and The Sculpture Foundation are making it possible for the public to view the 25 feet high, 36,000 pound statue, "Forever Marilyn" by Seward Johnson as it stops here for especial public photo opportunity for two hours (only) this Saturday.

The giant stainless steel and aluminum replica of Marilyn Monroe began its journey April 2 in Palm Springs, California aboard an open-bed truck on its way to a New Jersey retrospective of the sculptor's work. Chesterfield Arts arranged to have St. Louis as one of its stops along the way.

The public is invited to view and snap photos with the giant sculpture outside Chesterfield Arts (just across from Chesterfield Mall) this Saturday from 1-3 p.m. Photos of Marilyn's 11-state journey, are being posted on Twitter at #isawmarilyn or you can post at #ChesterfieldArt (no "s".)

"Forever Marilyn" will make several other stops in cities including: Indianapolis, Columbus and Philadelphia before landing in Hamilton, New Jersey (the sculptor's hometown) to be placed in a 42-acre temporary retrospective of Seward Johnson's work, opening May 4.

Chesterfield Arts and The Sculpture Foundation collaborated to bring Seward's work through St. Louis. Heir to the Johnson & Johnson family fortune, sculptor Seward Johnson is the creator of more than 450 sculptures depicting people engaged in every day activities.

The permanent sculpture features a bearded man emerging from the ground and is now one of the areas' most popular photo spots. (See attached photo.) Learn more: http://bit.ly/1sdEwOe
