John Patrick Stein, MD Establishes Concierge Medicine Practice

John Patrick Stein, MD has transitioned his family medicine practice to a personalized care model, also known as concierge medical care. Based in Chesterfield, Missouri, Dr. Stein has been providing primary care medicine to his patients for over 15 years.  As a proponent of advanced lipoprotein testing for heart disease risk assessment and prevention, and the first in the St. Louis area to offer the Boston Heart Labs unique assessment tool, Dr. Stein’s shift to a concierge medicine practice allows him more time to provide patients with in-depth medical care and to anticipate and potentially prevent the onset of disease.

Today, with shortened office visits, over-booked physician schedules, delays in receiving test results, and heightened uncertainty in the medical landscape, patients across the country are seeking a more personalized approach to health care. Understanding that a strong physician-patient relationship combined with quality time for personal interactions can have a direct impact on patient outcomes has led Dr. Stein and his patients to embrace a concierge medical care model.

“In a personalized care practice, physicians dramatically reduce their patient caseload from several thousand patients to several hundred. My office visits are now less rushed and more comprehensive than I’ve ever had time for in the past,” said Dr. Stein.  “Patients receive my personal cell phone so they can call me directly when they have an issue and they’re not limited to the standard 10-15 minute office visit.”

Dr. Stein’s practice provides preventative, diagnostic and therapeutic services for a wide array of acute and chronic medical conditions.  A comprehensive annual wellness exam lasting approximately one hour is the cornerstone of his patients’ personalized wellness plan.  “I focus on prevention and wellness, not just taking care of patients when they are ill,” says Stein.

“The health care environment today rewards speed and technology, not listening, thinking and compassion. Physicians are forced to see more patients in less time,” notes Dr. Stein. “My ability to spend the kind of time I believe is necessary to provide my patients’ with the highest quality care is now possible through my concierge practice.”

To assist his practice with the change, Dr. Stein enlisted Specialdocs Consultants, Inc., a national health care consulting firm that transitions traditional medical practices to a personalized care or concierge medicine model.  As the landscape of American health care changes, the practice transition services provided by Specialdocs offer a viable alternative to over-worked primary care and specialty physicians across the country.  With the passage of the Affordable Care Act and the creation of Accountable Care Organizations, now more than ever, physicians need assistance and professional guidance when exploring their options.
