Logan University Announces New Director of Master of Science Degree Program

Logan University has announced the appointment of Conrad L. Woolsey, PhD, as director of Logan’s Master of Science degree program in Nutrition and Human Performance in the College of Health Sciences.  He will report to Sherri A. Cole, Ph.D., dean of Logan’s College of Health Sciences. 

As a nationally recognized professional, Dr. Woolsey is also a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and Certified Consultant—Association of Applied Sports Psychology (CC-AASP).  Prior to coming to Logan University, he was the Chair of Sports Studies/Coaching at the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Ala. 

Dr. Woolsey has received numerous teaching honors including the 2011 Outstanding Alumni Award from Northwest Missouri State University (NWMSU) and, most recently, the Distinguished Guest Lecturer award from the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, Fla.  He has also taught and provided sport psychology services at Oklahoma State University in Tulsa, Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo., and the University of Missouri-Columbia (UMC). 

As an applied researcher, he has been the principal investigator or co-investigator in a number of funded research studies and has had several published articles in the Journal of Applied Sport Psychology, Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, Journal of Alcohol & Drug Education, Substance Abuse, Contemporary Psychology, Collegiate Aviation Review, and The Sport Journal.  Recently, he was the co-author of the new United States Aeromedical Reference and Waiver Guide, which sets the nutritional supplement guidelines and policies for all military aviators and flight crews.  He has also made numerous peer-reviewed national and international presentations for the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and the American Alliance of Health Education (AAHE).

As a decorated NCAA student-athlete and scholar, Dr. Woolsey was an eight-time NCAA All-American

(4-DI, 4-DII), Big XII Champion and 2004 Olympic Trials Qualifier in the shot put for the University of Missouri, and NCAA D-II National Champion for NWMSU.  Additionally, he was an Academic All-American numerous times and received the prestigious NCAA postgraduate scholarship during the completion of his doctoral degree.

Dr. Woolsey earned his master’s and doctorate degrees in Health Education & Promotion with an emphasis in Sport Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia (UMC).  Following a long family tradition of decorated teachers and administrators in the state of Missouri, he earned a highly recognized Bachelor of Science teaching degree in Physical Education with a minor in Coaching from Northwest Missouri State University.
