Logan University Appoints Dean of Chiropractic Education

Vincent F. DeBono, DC, has been named the dean of chiropractic education for Logan University’s College of Chiropractic.  He will report to Dr. Carl Saubert, Logan’s vice president of academic affairs.  The College of Chiropractic is Logan’s flagship educational program and currently has more than 800 Doctor of Chiropractic students.

  Dr. DeBono brings more than 20 years of experience as a chiropractic physician and educator to his new position at Logan.  Most recently, he was a partner at Motus Therapeutic Methods, LLC, a continuing education seminar company in Lemont, Ill.  He spent six years as the vice president of academic services at National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) in Lombard, Ill., where he was responsible for the administration of the first professional and undergraduate education programs.  From 2004 to 2012, he was a member of the post-professional faculty at NUHS where he taught functional anatomy, radiology, sports medicine and rehabilitation, and over an eight-year period, he served as a senior staff clinician and dean of clinics at NUHS.  Prior to that time, he was a radiology resident at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Ia., and was in private practice first in New Jersey and later in Illinois. 

“Dr. DeBono has vast experience as a clinician and teacher in undergraduate and graduate education, in the classroom, and as a practicing doctor of chiropractic.  His professional background as a vice president of academic services and dean of clinics at National University of Health Sciences will be a major asset for Logan,” said Dr. Clay McDonald, president of Logan University.  “We are indeed fortunate to have him as a key member of Logan’s senior academic team.” 

Dr. DeBono holds a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Chiropractic from National University of Health Sciences.  He has completed all required coursework for a Master of Health Professions Education at the University of Illinois-Chicago and is currently finishing his thesis for this degree program.   

Dr. DeBono has been a contributing author to several clinical textbooks and research articles in The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics (JMPT) and Chiropractic Products magazine, and has delivered numerous clinical and academic presentations nationally.  He has served as a member of the board of directors of the Association of Chiropractic Colleges (ACA) and in 2010 was chair of the ACC’s task force on defining primary care.  A certified strength and conditioning specialist, he is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
