Chesterfield Teen Talent Sings Her Way on to 'The Voice'

Caroline Glaser earned a place on the NBC show and a shot at winning a recording contract.

One aspiring teen singer from Chesterfield has a chance at making her dreams come true on the national stage.

That’s after Caroline Glaser, 18, sang her way to being a contestant on NBC reality show, “The Voice." Glaser is a student at the University of Kansas and won over two of the show’s coaches during the initial round with her rendition of “Tiny Dancer.”

For those who aren’t already fans of the show, it begins with blind auditions where coaches sit with their backs turned while singers belt out a tune. If one of them likes what they hear, they hit a button and swivel around to face the contestant.

At that point, the coach has indicated they’d like to place the singer on their team. In Glaser’s case, she actually earned the approval of two of the four coaches, ultimately ending up on Blake Shelton’s team.

It was an emotional moment for Glaser and her family, who told KSDK that seeing her on TV was “absolutely amazing.”

"Well I was just thinking about all of the piano lessons we had been through and voice lessons when she was just a little bitty girl and all of that flashes back and then you start to get really, really emotional and then there she is on stage and it's just overwhelming, overwhelming joy," Mitzi Glaser, Caroline's mom, told TV station.

According to show’s website, Glaser is an indie/folk singer currently studying education at the University of Kansas. She is a big fan of musicians Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson and Ben Folds, and she plays the guitar, ukulele and piano.

Surviving the blind audition is just the beginning, however. Next up for Glaser are the show’s “battle rounds,” which will pit her against one of her fellow teammates. The show’s next broadcast is scheduled for Monday night at 7 p.m.
