Coming Soon: A Shortcut From Chesterfield Parkway to Baxter Road

Chesterfield is adding 1,500 feet of roadway to link August Hill and Lydia Hill drives.

One lane is done of a three-lane extension of Lydia Hill Drive that will hook up with August Hill Drive, which then intersects with Baxter Road—not far from the traffic light at Wild Horse Creek and Baxter roads.

Chesterfield's city officials already agreed to change the name of the entire stretch to Lydia Hill Drive once it's completed in December.

Lydia Hill is the roadway that goes past the city's Aquatic Center in Central Park. It previously ended at the housing and swimming pool.

Despite "road closed" signs posted there currently, the one lane of concrete extension is visible from the parking lot of the Aquatic Center.

It curves down and around in an "S" shape to link up in a sub-division with homes on either side of August Hill Drive.

August and Lydia Hill are family to some of the earliest property owners in the Chesterfield area.

The entrance to the city's new Riparian Trail also begins from Lydia Hill Drive and runs along a creek or stream in a wooded portion of the park, then merges with the 1,500-foot-long stretch of new road.

Riparian means related to, or adjacent to rivers, streams, wetlands, swamps—in this instance we assume the creek.
