Delmar Gardens in Chesterfield Nears the Finish Line

Renovation both exterior and interior is no small task apparently.

is in its second year of work to transform its look into a California pink, adobe-look row of villas, from its former dark brown, wood, chalet-style, along North Outer 40 at Conway roads.

Patch plans an upcoming interview with Villas Director Kim Lifer for details about upgrades and renovations to the luxury retirement apartments.

In the meantime, Chesterfield's  provided a summary on its website of what the project entailed.

Sept. 2010 CB&E finished ground-up construction of Delmar Gardens Villas in O'Fallon, MO and subsequently got the job to renovate the exterior of the Chesterfield Villas. That's when we saw the brown composite begin to disappear.

The renovation included a new porte cochere at the entrance, roof, new decks, windows, patio doors, and an Exterior Insulation and Finishing System (EIFS) facade—some describe this as synthetic stucco, Wikipedia said.

The exterior finish of the Villas proved challenging, but CB&E planned to get the south face of the building completed before the end of 2010.

Again, the job included new balconies, demolition of the existing siding and replacing it with the new look—pink synthetic stucco.

Oct. 2010 The façade upgrades advanced nicely, CB&E said, due to the dry weather over the past 6-8 weeks. The crew of carpenters and laborers hit their stride and maintained a good workflow.

Work began on the interior lobby and dining area before the end of 2010.

Dec. 2010 CB&E looks to start Phase 2 in January and work on the interior through the cold winter months. Spring will see completion of exterior renovations that were halted due to cold weather.

July 2011 CB&E is moving through the last phases of renovation and starting on the elevator addition. Project manager keeps the job moving through a mason's strike and very wet spring.

"Delmar Gardens has the classiest facilities of any senior care center in town. It is always a pleasure to work with them on their properties because everything we do for them is top of the line and ahead of the curve," according to CB&E website.

Aug. 2011 Interior lobby looks very inviting, while evidence of work still underway on stairway and side hall and space near the dining room.

When it's finished, Patch hopes to bring you a tour.
