Neighborhood Gazebo Demolished Near High-Voltage Wires

Comment says it's termites.

A lighted gazebo at Sycamore Manor subdivision along Schoettler Road in Chesterfield was demolished and carted off apparently, next to Creve Coeur creek and high-voltage wire towers.

An anonymous comment (see at bottom) says it's termites that brought it down.

Anyone know if it will be rebuilt?

Last month, Ameren electric company eliminated all vegetation along the creek's banks next to the gazebo, under the tall towers.

Ameren said it could interfere with repair and transmission during icy and snowy conditions.

A number of residents protested the clearing of brush and what they described as animal habitats, with signs along the road.

Officials said subdivision trustees knew about the vegetation clearing prior to the event.

But it was not immediately clear why the gazebo came down. Over the past few years, it appeared people gathered there casually at night.

Later, there were signs that said no nighttime use was welcomed at all.

Ameren pledged to plant grass in the areas they cleared of vegetation by the towers. It was unclear whether the gazebo area was part of that.

If anyone has any further information, add it in comments below.
