Obama + Cardinals Playoff Game: Expect Traffic Delays Tuesday

The president and Cardinals fans will jockey for space on the roads Tuesday about the same time of day—late afternoon and evening.

Drivers should expect traffic delays to and from downtown St. Louis Tuesday with the Cardinals Division Series playoff Game 3 against Philadelphia taking place at the same time U.S. President Barack Obama visits St. Louis for a private campaign fundraiser.

The Cards play the Phillies at 4:07 p.m. in St. Louis at Busch Stadium Tuesday. The series is 1-1 for best of five games.

Obama is scheduled to attend a fundraiser at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown St. Louis from 5 to 8 p.m. Because of security concerns, there is no word on the president's exact arrival or departure to and from the event, but it is likely during the hours of the baseball game.

Use Metrolink when possible.

KMOV reports that several streets downtown will be closed late Tuesday afternoon, including Washington Avenue from 8th Street to 11th Street starting around 3 p.m., as well as parts of 9th Street, 10th Street and others.

Obama is expected to arrive in St. Louis on Air Force One at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.

His motorcade route is not being revealed and the Missouri State Highway Patrol told Patch it cannot comment on the president's transportation plans. However, in past visits by presidents, interstate ramps have been shut down as motorcades make their way through St. Louis.
