'Back Way' Route To Walmart Re-Opens Friday

A resourceful Patch user squeezes the promise from County contractor.

Baxter Road opens Friday at Edison and Old Chesterfield Airport Road, after being closed for several weeks.

The route—often known as the "back way" to among locals in Chesterfield—crosses little-used railroad tracks and saves drivers from getting on Highway 40/64 going west and the potential for high-speed drama, in a simple trip to shop at Walmart in .

There are hundreds of other stores, restaurants, services and Chesterfield's airport as well in that area, beginning where Baxter Road meets Edison and Highway 40/64.

A resourceful Patch user—female—who did not want to provide her name, said it took her a dozen or so telephone calls to find the contractor through St. Louis County that was working on Baxter Road.

Baxter Road is being widened at various points from Edison (in Chesterfield Valley where all the shopping is) to nearly Clayton Road.

Country Ridge—a well-used residential thoroughfare between Chesterfield Parkway and Clarkson Road—crosses Baxter Road, and has been closed for nearly three weeks.
