The city's newest concert venue is going to good use this summer. Six bands will perform free concerts at Chesterfield Amphitheater on Saturdays through August. The bands perform a variety of music, so there's something for everyone this summer.

The band Groovethang kicks off the concert series Saturday. Groovethang is a seven-piece band that plays a wide variety of popular songs and artists. Their website says they play songs from Steely Dan; Earth, Wind & Fire; The Doobie Brothers; Chicago; Al Green; and the Bee Gees, but that's not all.

On June 25, The Phins will take the stage. The Phins are a Jimmy Buffet-style band.

The stage plays host to Griffin and the Gargoyles on July 16. Griffin and the Gargoyles were voted the Best St. Louis Cover Band of 2010 by the Riverfront Times. They play a little bit of everything, including (but definitely not limited to) Cake, The Beatles, Blink 182, Rascal Flatts and Justin Timberlake.

On July 30, That '80s Band will send the audience back a few decades via musical time machine. The band members go by stage names such as "Mick Fly," "Dan Duran" and "Valerie Girl." Expect tunes from Journey, Billy Idol, The Go Go's and more.

August's concerts feature blues and jazz artists. On August 13, the Soulard Blues Band will play. On Aug. 27, Erin Bode and her band will play. They play jazz that's influenced by pop and world music, according to their website.
