Rockwood School District Art Show & E-Waste Event
The community is invited to attend the annual Rockwood Art Show on April 9-10 from 12-3:30 p.m. at Selvidge Middle School in Ballwin. The exhibit will feature more than 6,900 student artists from across the district.
While exploring an array of artwork, children are encouraged to get their faces painted and create their own chalk painting masterpieces. Guest artists will also showcase their talents for participants to see.
As part of the Art Show, patrons are encouraged to bring unwanted electronics for disposal. Fine Arts Coordinator Dr. Matthew Frederickson said the E-Waste event is a natural fit with the show because artists often use "found objects" to create their projects. "Environmental responsibility is a strong theme in the Rockwood Visual Arts Curriculum at all levels. Rockwood families recycled more than 3.98 tons of electronic waste at our event in 2010 and we hope to increase that amount this year."
