Big Lots to Open in Chesterfield in Late May

Chesterfield shoppers will soon have a new store to visit in the Chesterfield Valley.

Big Lots, which offers closeout prices on brand-name products, is slated to open on May 12 in Chesterfield Commons East. The store's grand opening celebration is scheduled for a week later on May 20. 

"When we open doors on the 12th, it will be business as usual and everyone will find the same great deals," Toni Fink, spokeswoman for Big Lots, said. Special deals will be offered at the grand opening. Details on those sales will appear in that week's sales papers, Fink said. 

As part of its grand opening celebration, Big Lots will donate $2,500 to . Fink said new stores always make a donation to the nearest school when opening. 

The store, which is in the old Circuit City space, will be about 23,000 square feet and have a furniture department along with the typical Big Lots offerings of toys, housewares, seasonal products and more.

The store is currently hiring. About 50 people will be needed to staff the store, Fink said. Renovations to the space are nearing completion and the store will be stocked soon. 

Big Lots plans to open 90 more locations nationwide this year, Fink said. There are more than 1,400 Big Lots stores in 48 states.
