Hungry Youth Benefit from Chesterfield-Based Business

Food re-distributor remembers the needy in our area.

Employee donations of gifts and food at year's end to local Youth in Need generated a 2-for-1 donation of food to St. Louis Area Foodbank by their employer, Chesterfield-based Dot Foods, Inc.

Dot Foods, Inc. carries 100,000 products from 700 food industry manufacturers and is the largest food re-distributor in the U.S., according to company press agents. It is located at 17050 Baxter Rd., Ste. 130, 63005.

Dot Foods, in Chesterfield Valley, has worked before with both Youth In Need and the St. Louis Area Foodbank.

In total, Dot employees donated over 150 gifts, including iPods, winter coats, movies and a Wii. Another $500 in cash went to Youth In Need.

The gifts and cash aid local families enrolled in various programs of Youth in Need, including Foster Care, Out-of-School Time and Transitional Living. The programs are based in St. Charles, and are part of the non-profit youth and family services agency.

More than 300 non-perishable food items went to the St. Louis Area Foodbank, as a result of Dot's Charitable Committee's work.

"We're really proud of our employees and are grateful that they support our charity committee year round," said Chris Connolly, charitable committee co-chairperson for Dot Foods.

Dot Foods distributes foodservice, convenience, retail and vending food products, equipment and supplies to distributors in all 50 states of the U.S.A.

It operates eight distribution centers: Modesto, CA; Vidalia, GA.; Burley, ID; Mt. Sterling, IL; Cambridge City, IN; Williamsport, MD; Liverpool, NY; and Ardmore, OK.
