Chesterfield Cell Phone, Tech Repair Business Expands to Brentwood

Chris Phillips started a CPR Cell Phone Repair franchise in Chesterfield in May of last year and has already opened his second location.

Cracked cell phones and other digital devices under duress are the specialty of a Chesterfield business that recently expanded to Brentwood.

CPR Cell Phone Repair and Gadget Tech opened in mid-January at the north end of the shops at 2500 Brentwood Boulevard.

"Just about anything you guys break we can fix," owner Chris Phillips said.

It's his second St. Louis location for the franchise. Phillips opened his first in Chesterfield in May, 2012. He said the CPR franchise has been growing quickly. It was ranked last year as the sixth fastest growing franchise in the country.

"Isn't it amazing that the iPhone is only six years old?" he said. "If we drive off without our wallet we'll keep going, but not without our cell phone."

The logo is the Swiss cross, representing that the shop is brand-neutral. They repair any brand of phone, or just about any digital device.

"It's cell phones, iPhones, iPads, tablets, laptops, iPods, game players, Sony Playstations, X boxes, just about everything that everybody uses today," Phillips said. "A lot of people don't know these things can be fixed."

He said cracked glass on cell phones is the most frequent repair. They also do water damage repairs, problems with phones charging, battery replacement and software repairs too. Phillips has two full time employees who make the repairs.

Phillips likes the location because he can say it's in the same building as Radio Shack, in business for 28 years, and the well-known, Brentwood Alteration and Tailoring.

Phillips has a banking background.

"I've done commercial acquisition, and spent 20 plus years on the mortgage side running multi-state regions for bigger banks," he said. "Three years ago decided to reinvent myself, and found the CPR franchise."
