Downtown St. Louis Retail Co-Op Expanding to Chesterfield Valley

One of the latest business to announced it will be opening up shop at one of Chesterfield's soon-to-be-open outlet malls isn't your traditional outlet store brand. 

It's the retail co-op known as The Collective, which currently operates a store downtown in the newly renovated Merchantile Exchange building, and will soon be setting up at Taubman Prestige Outlets, according to the St. Louis Business Journal. 

The recently opened shop leases rack space and shelves to around 50 vendors, some of them local names, and is projecting to grow its sales from $350,000 in its first year to $500,000 by the second.  

The store's managing director Nicole Benoist told the publication that she was approached by officials from Taubman and decided it represented an opportunity to expand The Collective co-op concept without directly competing with their current location. 

Benoist said the second store will follow the outlet mall ethos by offering discounted, past season items. 

About the Outlets:

St. Louis Premium Outlets is set to open Aug. 22. The $100 million, 350,000-square-foot complex will include 85 stores located on the south side of Highway 40 just east of the Daniel Boone Bridge. It is being developed by Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group and Forth Worth, Texas-based Woodmont Outlets.

Taubman Prestige Outlets is set to open Aug. 2. The $150 million, 450,000-square-foot project will include more than 100 stores on North Outer 40 east of Boone’s Crossing. It is being developed by Bloomfield Hills, Mich.-based Taubman Centers and Warren, N.J.-based OutletPartners LLC.
