Chesterfield Hosts Friday Food Truck Day at City Hall

If you're near City Hall today around lunchtime on Oct. 19, you have another chance to sample some of the vittles from some local food truck vendors.

The food truck craze returns to Chesterfield on Friday, Oct. 19, as another group of mobile vendors converges on City Hall for a lunchtime smorgasbord.

"Food Truck Friday" is different from the event that the city had sponsored through the summer at Faust Park. The "Keep on Truckin'" events had run on the fourth Thursday of each month through the summer. The last visit is scheduled for this month.

On Friday, trucks from Zia's, Shell's Coastal Cuisine and two trucks from Sarah's Cake Shop — the Cake Stop and Sarah's Meltdown (which features gourmet grilled cheese) — will be at City Hall from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

"It’s primarily an employee event, but we’ve also invited our neighbors at Dierberg’s corporate building and then publicizing it a little elsewhere so we can be sure they get some good business," said Libbey Malberg-Tucker, assistant city administrator for community services and economic development.

Jill Umbarger of Sarah's Cake Shop said her trucks go out every day for lunchtime and once or twice a week for evening events.
