hhgregg Opens Soon in Chesterfield

The 57 year old electronic retailer will open four St. Louis area stores by Labor Day.

will once again have competition in the St. Louis region as hhgregg makes ready to move into the metro area. Today the appliance and electronics giant announced in a press release that it is opening locations in Chesterfield, Fenton, St. Peters and Fairview Heights.

The store is named after founder Henry Harold Gregg.

The hhgregg in Chesterfield will be located on Chesterfield Airport Road. The retailer did not give an address for this location, but Chesterfield officials told Patch the store will be near .

In Fenton, hhgregg is moving into a former Linen & Things in the Gravois Bluffs shopping plaza. Both the St. Peters and Fairview Heights locations will be in former Ultimate Electronics stores.

The retailer announced that it plans to hire 240 employees—about 60 for each location. They will be hiring commissioned sales associates, managers-in-training, warehouse staff and customer service merchandisers for each store locations. "We’re excited to hire talented members of the St. Louis community to join our growing team at hhgregg,” said Jeff Pearson, Senior Vice President of Marketing. “As we move forward with our Midwest expansion, seeking to fill positions with motivated, enthusiastic individuals looking for growth opportunities within our company. We encourage anyone who is interested in joining our team to apply."

The company website said that typical new stores are about 30,000 square feet and are designed to be visually appealing to customers. Each store carries over 100 models of flat panel televisions and 350 models of appliances.

hhgregg operates 212 stores as hhgregg and Fine Lines. These four locations will be the first in Missouri. The retailer’s current stores all located east of the Mississippi River, from Chicago to Florida.
