How You Can Support Fashion—and the Hungry—in Chesterfield

You don't typically see the notions of food and fashion uttered in the same breath, but in Chesterfield next month, you'll see it live on a Chesterfield Mall stage.

It's the Fashion for Food fundraiser, scheduled for the evening of Oct. 20 at 7 p.m., and put together by Florence Dewan, who was the professor and chairperson for the Fashion Design Department at Lindenwood University for more than nine years.

The project is modeled after similar programs in Oklahoma, Los Angeles and Pittsburgh. The idea is to raise money through food donations at the door and the $20 a head ticket fee for the public event at the Chesterfield Mall.

"Our main purpose and goal for this event is to raise money and collect can goods to help out with as many charities as possible and at the same time to help and promote local designers," Dewan says on the event website.

Sponsored include Macy's and The Art Institutes.

You can get more information about the event on the Fashion for Food website.

The event benefits the Salvation Army and Food Outreach.
