Tax Break for Shoppers Fri - Sun for Back-to-School

Missouri's tax holiday lets shoppers save on computers, clothing, shoes, back-to-school supplies.

This weekend is the time to shop and buy—tax free.

Missouri is holding its annual Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday. It begins at midnight Friday, August 3 and ends at midnight Sunday, August 5.

So if you’re in the market for computers, clothes, shoes and school supplies, shoppers save 4.225 percent in state sales tax on the items.

  • Clothing–maximum $100 per article of clothing;
  • School supplies–up to $50 per purchase;
  • Personal computers and peripheral devices—$3,500 or less;
  • Computer software—$350 or less.
