"This is their fourth store in the metropolitan area. We're happy that they've selected Manchester for their fourth store location," Franz Kraintz, Manchester's director of planning, zoning and economic development, tells Patch. "Having another retailer in our city is always good."

In April, George Randall of Internet Wines and Spirits Co., the store's parent company, addressed the Manchester Board of Aldermen about opening the business. Randall already owns two stores in the St. Louis area and one in Illinois.

Randall said the Manchester location was ideal and also helps spread their stores out across the metro area.

"Just off a major thoroughfare, which is off (Route) 141. You got Walmart, Costo, Best Buy and so you've got a lot of large companies there and they do their research. So it worked out well," Randall tells Patch. "Real estate being a little bit on the south side, it was an opportunity to expand because prices have come down. It was time to move and we hope it works out well."

He said the Randall's store located in South St. Louis is the largest in Missouri as far as sales volume.

"We have been voted number one in beer, wine and liquor in St. Louis since we have operated in St. Louis," Randall previously said.

He added that his stores have also received national recognition since they began operating.

"We are not a traditional liquor store. We have a wide selection, professional staff, competitive prices and a clean facility," Randall said.

He tells Patch that the new store is 12,000 square feet and offers a variety of spirits and knowledgable staff. Among the beverages carried in the store are 1,300 wines, 800 craft beers, 500 vodkas, 200 Bourbons and more, Randall tells Patch.

"It's a terrific staff there," Randall said. "These are people who worked my other stores and they got moved up to this store here."

The store also offers in-store wine tastings, private party planning and wedding registries. Randall said he is a Market Watch Leader and a Market Watch Leader Retailer and winner of the 2010 Leaders Alumni Award for Best Website.
