One Outlet Mall Starts Digging In Chesterfield Valley

The other one signed a tenant, St. Louis Business Journal said.

Two malls vying for primacy in Chesterfield Valley took steps this week to strut their stuff.

T-O Ventures out of Michigan put shovels in the ground Tuesday at the 48-acre site at Boones Crossing exit of Highway 40/64.

The property is a semi-rectangle wedged between Hardees IcePlex, the Levee Trail, Highway 40/64 and the exit. Expect 450,000 square feet of outlets.

The competitor, Simon's Premium Outlet Mall, reported they have a first tenant for their proposed 385,000 square foot mall on 55 acres, according to St. Louis Business Journal.

T-O Ventures is a step ahead of Premium in planning the project.

But Premium seems confident about announcing a first tenant, Saks Fifth Avenue Off-Fifth.

A T-O Ventures spokesperson said Tuesday she was not revealing whether or if tenants were signed on yet.

Chesterfield's Mayor Bruce Geiger said last week that the city was handling both outlet mall developers equally and fairly throughout the process.

Developers must typically overcome hurdles such as zoning, parking, traffic, architectural aesthetics, sewer, energy, environmental, and others, before seeing one shovel of dirt move.
