Opening Date for Chesterfield Wendy's Pushed Back

A construction manager with the hamburger chain said their anticipated starting date has been kicked back to later this summer.

If your stomach started growling when you first heard the news that Wendy's would be opening a Chesterfield location, be prepared to deal with the noise a little longer.

The national chain's construction manager Andy Blackburn told Patch this week that they are aiming to break ground in the first half of May and anticipate opening in late August early September. That's several months back from the June/July start date the company predicted in February.

The restaurant will be located on Chesterfield Airport Road across from Villa Farotta and next to a new Valvoline Oil Change shop that is coming close to completion. Blackburn said the Wendy's will have a drive-thru and be approximately 3,300 square feet.

While it would be the only one of its kind in Chesterfield, Wendy’s will join a host of other fast food joints in the area that specialize in burgers, including less common franchises such as Smashburger and Cheeburger Cheeburger.

Blackburn previously told Patch that the decision to build in Chesterfield Valley came after their Real Estate time spent a great deal of time scouring the city for the right location.

“The demographics for this location fit the target that Wendy’s looks for in a site with a good residential and commercial base," he said.

Wendy’s along with Valvoline are part of a larger parcel owned by THF Realty. A representative from the company said in February that they do not have any immediate commitments for the remaining 4.5 acres, but they are actively seeking to develop it.

Are you excited to see Wendy's finally come to Chesterfield? What's your favorite fast food stop when it comes to hamburgers?
