Outlet Mall Drainage Work Closes Olive Road, Starting Monday

The road will be closed from Centaur Road to Chesterfield Airport Road starting Feb. 18 and is planned to be re-opened March 4.

Drainage work for the future St. Louis Premium Outlets on Chesterfield Airport Road will result in the closure of a portion of Olive Road on Monday and possible headaches for some drivers.

The St. Louis County-maintained roadway will be closed between Centaur Road and Chesterfield Airport Road from Feb. 18 and March 4. County Public Works Director Jim Eckrich said the closure will allow for the installation of 60-inch storm pipes under the roadway.

The pipes will be laid just west of Rombach Farms, according to the Chesterfield Police Department. Detours should follow S. Eatherton, Wildhorse Creek, Long and Chesterfield Airport roads.

Construction crews were already out in the area Wednesday and could be seen working on the south side of Olive Road. The county has also installed lighted signs warning of the closure.

Along with Taubman Prestige Outlets, the development is one of two outlet malls in Chesterfield Valley pushing to open by next August.
