Pretzelmaker Franchise Rolling into Chesterfield in May

The owner of the store is a Chesterfield resident who already has two locations in Mid-Rivers Mall in St. Peters.

A Chesterfield woman is looking to expand her pretzel empire this spring with the opening of a new Pretzelmaker store in Chesterfield Mall.

A resident of the Wildhorse subdivision, Carmen Mahoney already owns a franchise of the national chain with two locations in the Mid-Rivers Mall in St. Peters. The new venture represents something of a twist, however, since she said it will be “co-branded” with Great American Cookies.

With the success of her initial two locations, Mahoney said she was looking to expand and settled on the Chesterfield Mall after a real estate specialist with CBL Associates, the mall’s owner, informed her of an opportunity.

The Pretzelmakers/Great American Cookie store will be replacing frozen yogurt shop Slimberry and Mahoney said she is aiming for an opening celebration May 4-5.

“We will have several events and lots of samplings,” she said. The planned activities include pretzel rolling for kids, which Mahoney said is a big hit at their St. Peters’ locations.

Founded in 1991, the Pretzelmaker franchise now has more than 360 locations in the U.S. and offers specialty pretzels with flavors such as parmesan, ranch and garlic. The Great American Cookie half of the store will focus on desserts and treats with cookies, brownies and cookie cakes.
