Restaurant Review Round-Up: Spiro's Restaurant

See what people are saying about restaurants in the Chesterfield area.

The listing for Spiro's Restaurant promises to lure in patrons with the smell of Saganaki, or fried cheese, an appeal to the senses that the Restaurant Review Round-Up thought would be worth sniffing out.

The Greek restaurant's Chesterfield location suffered a fire in 2007 but came right back to life, specializing in Meditarranean dishes as well as pasta and steaks. The menu includes classics such as Spanakopita (Phyllo dough stuffed with cheese and spinach) and Steak Krasato (two medallions of beef tenderloin sauteed with onions, bell peppers, mushrooms and red wine).

From Yelp (4.0 avg/20 reviews):

Sarah S. gave it 5/5 stars: "We were all brought salads to start - my FAVORITE! I just love Spiro's Greek salad. I could've just eaten that. We also had warm bread. For entrees, we were offered multiple things. I actually ordered something that wasn't offered, that pasta corfu, which is a red sauce with veggies. I got it without chicken. It was a HUGE bowl and I added feta. It was good."

Dave F. gave it 3/5 stars: "For the price of the food VS the flavors, quality and portion size I just don't see the justification.  I definitly would not go out of my way for the place.  If I was close buy and I was hankering for Mediterranean food, I might stop in and give them another try."

Ebby V. gave it 4/5 stars: "I had the rack of lamb with scallops. Though the flavor was spot on the lamb and scallop portions left me wanting. For appetizers the table ordered stuffed mushrooms and the Dolma which was grape leaves stuffed with lamb and beef with a cream sauce   I have had the grape leaves stuffed with beef and rice at other restaurants and I preferred that. I think this restaurant's dolma needed a bit more flavor or salt.  The mushroom breading was flavorful but the mushroom itself was ok."

From Urban Spoon:

Thomas Brison liked it: "I am always pleased with what I get when I go here. I think that if you shy away based on it being a 'Greek' resturaunt, then you will be mistaken. It has some of the best steaks and pasta that I have had anywhere. We always receive good service and feel welcomed here."

Barbecued Adventures didn't like it: "While Spiro's restaurant claims to be a Greek restaurant, it is curious that the menu also features Italian pasta and even some French food. This Greek won't complain too much about the Pastichio and Dolmathes, the gravy on the lamb shank was too heavy and the Moussaka was a major disappointment -- as were the size of the portions."
