Smoothie King Seeking to Reign Supreme in St. Louis

Are you a fan of the franchise's Chesterfield location? The company has announced plans to add 25 stores to the St. Louis area over the next five years.

There’s a smoothie war brewing in St. Louis and it will likely mean good things for West County residents who are fans of the fruit-based beverages.

Smoothie King announced Monday that it is seeking to expand its footprint in St. Louis and open 25 additional locations over the next five years. The national chain already has locations in Chesterfield, Kirkwood, Ballwin and Creve Coeur.

“We are confident that our brand has great potential for further development in St. Louis and look forward to building a stronger presence in the area,” said Smoothie King CEO Wan Kim in a press release.

At the same time, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that one of Smoothie King’s rivals, Jamba Juice, has announced growth plans of its own that will include its first-ever Missouri stores. The goal is to have 15 locations in Missouri and Kansa over the next nine years.

With so many smoothies vying for consumers' attention, it's a classic recipe for economic competition and should bring an increase in quality along with quantity.
