Commerce CEO Departure a Mystery for Chesterfield

Chamber directors mum: "Not anyone's business."

There's been no public explanation for the abrupt departure of Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce .

Reached after his desparture, which was announced in a brief email from the Chamber board of directors, Taylor was unwilling to provide any insight. He suggested contacting the president of the Chamber board of directors, Jennifer Hill.

Hill said Thursday by phone that "it really isn't anyone's business" as to why Taylor separated from the top post. Taylor had previously been Chamber president of the board of directors. He was a until a year ago.

The Chesterfield Chamber has traditionally had a close working relationship with City of Chesterfield staff, and was integral in waging a ballot issue to create the present city of Chesterfield in 1988.

Taylor was after the Chamber's longtime leader  from cancer.

"I will say, it's not easy to fill the shoes, when someone has been in a position such a long time. It happens in other industries," Hill said.

Taylor's resignation was effective immediately, according to the June 26 Chamber of Commerce email.

The Board of Directors regrets to announce the resignation of Robey Taylor as Executive Director, effective today. We thank Robey for the work he has done for the Chamber and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.

Jack Hoffmann will be filling in as Business Manager as we start the search for a new Executive Director.
