What's Going on with the Former Chesterfield Big Lots?

A neighboring tenant in Chesterfield Commons is moving into the space and performing a major overhaul of the storefront.

If you've been doing some shopping in Chesterfield Commons lately, you may have noticed a lot of activity at the former Big Lots location on THF Boulevard.

The extensive exterior renovations are part of the preparation for the nearby Golf Galaxy's move into the space sometime this fall. As Patch has reported previously, it will be the first Golf Galaxy in the U.S. to feature a new, updated look.

The re-design will be meant to imply the aesthetic of a classic two-story golf course club house, complete with a mock-up of a PGA-Event leaderboard, which explains all the work being performed on the storefront currently.

The new location, just a few doors down from its present spot, is around 35,000 square feet, roughly twice the present size of the store, said manager Darrin Williams.

The larger room means opportunities for features such as equipment fitting areas specific to particular brands along with an expanded apparel selection.

Golf fans will have to exercise a little patience before taking a swing at the new store, however, as Williams said they are currently projecting a Oct. 16 opening.
