When Will Chesterfield's Dueling Outlet Malls Open?

Eager shoppers won't have to wait much longer to check out the massive new retail centers.

They have been the subject of much anticipation, competition and not a little amount of befuddlement, but the two new outlet malls in Chesterfield are now on the verge of opening.

The first to open will be the Taubman Prestige Outlets, which is located on the north side of I-64/Highway 40 on the east end of Chesterfield Valley near the Boone's Crossing exit.

It's currently scheduled to open in less than a month on Aug. 2 with 80 stores spanning 310,000 square feet. The $150 million outlet mall will later add another 20-30 stores with a 140,000-square-foot phase 2 planned for next spring.

Twenty days later on Aug. 22, its inter-valley rival, St. Louis Premium Outlets, will open its doors.

St. Louis Premium Outlets is located on a slice of land north of Olive Road and south of I-64 at the west end of Chesterfield Valley. The $100 million complex will open with around 85 stores.

Both developers have been racing to build and open the stores, with ground broken on the projects last spring, and the construction has become a familiar site for drivers on I-64.
