The Butterfly House is Back in Business

The Butterfly House is open after a three week overhaul.

The Butterfly House in Chesterfield is probably one of the best family attractions in St. Louis County. It's home to thousands of beautiful butterflies in a tropical conservatory.

The Butterfly House shut down for three weeks in January for a minor remodel. Fresh paint was added to main hall, a few exhibits were moved around and the conservatory plants were pruned to let in more sunlight (which the butterflies love).

The biggest portion of the remodel is still being worked on: the complete overhaul of the Lopata Learning Lab. The lab is a classroom where kids can learn about butterflies, do crafts and earn scout badges. The lab is also available to rent for birthday parties.

Staff at the Butterfly House are hopeful that the lab will be ready in March for the annual March Morpho Mania. The butterfly "nursery" is already home to 650 Blue Morpho chrysalis (or cocoons for you Eric Carl fans) who will be first in line to take flight March 1.
