Celebrate 7-Eleven's 84th Birthday with a Free Slurpee

7-Eleven is offering customers a free 7.11-ounce frozen Slurpee drink Monday to help celebrate its 84th birthday.

The free Slurpee offer is available until midnight at participating convenience stores while supplies last. As part of the "Slurpee-bration," some locations will offer in-store specials, music, entertainment, prizes and food samplings.

7-Eleven began offering free Slurpees on July 11 on its 75th birthday in 2002, and it's become a big hit with customers. In fact, one year the company gave out 5 million Slurpee drinks in one day.

7-Eleven began in 1927 when a Southland Ice Company employee started selling bread, milk and eggs on a dock in a Dallas suburb. Today, the chain has 8,600 7-Eleven stores in North America and about 41,500 stores worldwide.
