Fixing up his car and paying for college are two of the ways 21-year-old Andrew Gilliland plans to spend his $250,000 top prize from the Missouri Lottery.
The business student bought his winning "Silver Anniversary" lottery ticket at the Circle K at 14804 Clayton Road during a stop for gas.
"I didn't scratch it off until I got home," Gilliland said. "I was up all night!"
Gilliland, who is from Chesterfield, will celebrate his birthday in April and joked that winning the lottery was "the best birthday present ever."
“I’m going to use some of the money to fix up my car,” he said. “I’m not going to buy a new one, because I like the one I have. I’ll use the rest to help pay for college.”
“Silver Anniversary” is a $10 game with a top prize of $250,000 that began on Jan. 22, 2011. Gilliland won one of six top prizes, and there are three remaining.
